Welcome, all you burdened and heavy laden. You who, year after year, have suffered the injustice of the hideously designed standard Christmas Tree Stand. Read on, and suffer no longer. The answer is finally here, and you’ll never be the same.
What Is It?
No doubt about it, this is the cadillac of tree stands. Krinner took an extremely cumbersome and difficult process, the process of placing and securing a Christmas Tree into its stand, and they made it, quite simply, a pleasure. For those of us who put up real trees for the Christmas season, you understand the issue at hand all too well.
Even now you are flooded with painful memories of years past. The inevitable struggle that you instantly regret and leaves you declaring “I will never, ever to that again”. The sap that somehow always, no matter how hard you try, leaves your hands sort-of sticky somewhere on only a few of your fingers for at least 12 hours. Or the 27 pine needles that stab you no matter where you grab the trunk. Or the sensation of dipping both of your forearms in a tub of Icy Hot as you struggle to crank the individual fasteners while they utterly fail to provide any sense of confidence that the tree won’t fall the second a door shuts too hard in your house. It’s a nightmare.
Enough is enough! We can do better, humanity.
Enter…the Krinner Christmas Tree Genie
Developing an entirely new approach to an age old past time, Krinner has redesigned the tree stand from the ground up, and in doing so has given a true gift. Let’s break it down.
Competition Comparison
This section is a tough one for the Christmas Tree Genie because honestly there is no one out there doing anything like it. There are any number of tree stands that fill the aisles of Walmart or Home Depot, but they are all variations of the same outdated and horribly designed product that pops into your head when you think of a Tree Stand…
Yeah…
There are some that have attempted to improve. They essentially built an inner container that actually anchors to the trunk, and a pedal that can be pressed to swivel that inner container until you adjust the tree the way you want. That solves the readjustment issue, but leaves all the others unaddressed.
And honestly, that’s about the only other improvement that I’ve seen out there. Even if there are others that solve 1 or two of the pain points, there simply is no other product that comprehensively solves the problem like Krinner has done.
Because of this, I’m not even going to do the other products the justice of directly comparing them up against the Christmas Tree Genie. They fall so short that I don’t even want you to consider the idea of going in that direction. The only clear choice here is Krinner, so let’s focus some more on why it excels so far above its competitors with the features it offers.
5 Fav Features
- Foot Clamp
- As referenced above, one of the most horrifying elements of displaying a tree with one of the basic stands is the cranking required on multiple spots around the trunk. This is, perhaps, the most obviously beneficial aspect features of the Christmas Tree Genie. Line the tree up how you’d like, press the lever several times with your foot, and it’s done. This is the moment I was alluding to where you’ll be proclaiming, “I will never do it the old way again”.
- Water Meter & Drain
- There is a “bobber” like water meter system built right into the stand. It allows you to see how much water is left before a refill is needed. Another great water feature is the built in drain. The stand itself is quite heavy, and flipping it upside down would be pretty difficult on your own. Krinner accounted for this and built in a drain on the side of the stand, which requires only a simple 90+ degree tilt while the stand remains on the ground.
- Heavy Base
- The Christmas Tree Genie is incredibly solid. It’s almost weirdly heavy when you pick it up the first time haha. I love that. Gives me peace of mind no matter how tall my tree is (FYI they do have several different sizes to accommodate the height of your tree. So do pay attention to that).
- Clean Asthetic
- There aren’t any cumbersome screws protruding out, or large inner container eye sores. The Christmas Tree Genie is low profile and has nothing “extra”. You are welcome to place a tree skirt, of course. But honestly you’d be fine without one. That’s how great this thing looks!
- Quality Materials & Sturdy Build
- I love when any product feels sturdy, and well made. The Christmas Tree Genie epitomizes a well made product. You can tell from the moment you pick it up. Not only is it incredibly solid, as I mentioned above, but it’s clear the materials are high quality. The springs are thick and well placed, the foot pedal is solid and doesn’t at all appear as though you can break it with too much force. There are many other components throughout the Christmas Tree Genie that leave you knowing this is a Christmas tradition you’ll enjoy for years to come!
Let’s Get Practical
All of the above describes the product itself, what it does, and how it differentiates itself from others like it.
But let’s talk about what it all comes back to. What does using this product actually look like in day-to-day use? Awesome…it has a bunch of cool features…but in practice, are they actually helpful?
I can answer that question only with my experience. With how I put this product to use in my own life to make it easier, more efficient, more consistent, more fun, whatever the case may be. Your experience will, of course, be different. But this should give you a place to start. You can at least read on with the knowledge that no products make it on this site without being a thoroughly tested, tried-and-true part of some area of my life!

There isn’t too much to add in this section. This product is incredibly straight-forward and easy to use. I will, however, share some tips and tricks to help you get the most practical use out of your Christmas Tree Genie.
When cleaning the bowl at season’s end, make sure to take the time to do it right, and clean it out completely. Yes, that means scrubbing off that awful sap and getting pine needles out of hte hard to reach spots. I’ve found that it makes the unpacking of the Christmas Tree Genie, and the subsequent setting up of the tree, to be so much more enjoyable if you cleaned it the right way and stored it properly the year prior.
Also, when using the water meter to keep an eye on the water level, it’s a good idea to depress it all the way down before taking your actual measurement. Sometimes (especially if the tree is really sappy) the meter can get slightly sticky and will have trouble moving down as the water evaporates. Just push it all the way in, allow it to “bob” back up, and you’ll get an accurate reading!
Summary
- Pros
- Truly can’t say enough good things about the Krinner Christmas Tree Genie. It’s hassle-free, sturdy as a rock, easy to drain, and looks amazing.
- Cons
- It can be hard to clean if your tree is especially sappy. Because of how it’s built, there are some smaller crevasses and pockets that can be hard to get to. I’ve always just used my hands with a rag and it’s been fine, but it’d be hard to get every last inch perfectly clean if that’s important to you.
- On the foot lever, there is a little locking mechanism. A little switch that allows you to “lock” the lever so that it won’t release the hold on the tree. This little guy can be a bit confusing and tricky to operate. It feels like every year I sit there and stare at it for a second before I know which direction to move it to unlock/lock it. It’s labeled and everything, it’s just not intuitive to me for whatever reason so I thought I’d call it out.
