Throw out whatever previous understanding you had of what a flashlight was, or what it was capable of. The Atomic Beam is going to redefine everything you thought you knew about lighting up the night sky. With its versatile beam modes and indestructible construction, this masterpiece not only establishes itself as a critical part of your tool kit…it carves its name into the history books of our generation. It’s a force to be reckoned with….a crown jewel of modern engineering.
What Is It?
Yes…the most basic definition of the Atomic Beam is that it is a flashlight. But to contain it entirely within the walls of that description is irresponsible at best.
Ladies and gentlemen what we have here is one of those rare products that redefine the very genre it resides in. There are so many areas where typical flashlights fall short. And there are so many….oh how many there are, indeed….features where the Atomic Beam exceeds your wildest expectations.
Whether you are using it for the first time, or the thousandth time…you’ll have the same reaction when you activate that beautiful beam. “What was life even like before the Atomic Beam?”. Trust me, folks, that life becomes a distant memory more quickly than you can imagine.
So get the idea of a “flashlight” out of your head. Yes it provides light in darkness. But the comparisons stop there. Let’s dig into what sets it apart as a category-defining example of excellence.
Competition Comparison
A typical flashlight has a bulb of some kind, surrounded by mirrors to reflect and amplify the light, focusing it outward. The result is an extremely inconsistent beam that is typically brighter at its center, and that gets weaker the wider out it spreads. Another shortfall of a standard flashlight is that as the flashlight’s battery gets lower, the brightness of the beam dims.
In addition, I feel like I’ve just had so many issues in the past with the reliability of standard flashlights. The batteries corrode and only work when you bang the whole thing a few times. Or the bulb burns out way sooner than you expect. Reliability and consistency is critical when it comes to a flashlight. You never grab a flashlight like, “Eh, I maaaay need this. I’ll grab it just in case.”. No! Almost always you’re using a flashlight when it’s the only thing standing between you and near or total darkness. Not an ideal time for a product to perform unreliably!
The Atomic Beam is not only exceptionally consistent in its performance and brightness, but it’s extremely versatile in the applications it can be used for. More on this below.
Now…I don’t claim to know what sorcery happens inside the Atomic Beam to provide it with such incredible, sustained power. But believe me when I tell you that this beam doesn’t get even a tiny amount less bright the wider out you go. It is just as bright on the very outer edge of the beam as it is in its center. It truly is a sight to behold. And this beam is wiiiide, people. If you hold the Atomic Beam at your side and slide it to its widest setting, you can practically light up your entire field of view.
5 Fav Features
- Beam Brightness
- How bright this thing gets is truly a sight to behold. But…what is an even more impressive feature is that the beam is just as wide at the very outer edges as it is at its center. I’ve simply seen nothing like it.
- Adjustable Width of Beam
- You have the ability, by sliding the head of the flashlight up and down, to make the beam extremely wide, or concentrate it in a small, focused area. If you do this it also amplifies the brightness significantly (200x the power of the original beam!), allowing you to see much further into the distance. That flexibility may not seem like much, but in practice you’ll find yourself using the different beams for different tasks constantly!
- Durability
- Made of military-grade aluminum, this monster is as tough as a tank. You’re simply never going to break this thing with any type of typical use. It’s heavy in your hand, which I always appreciate with tools like this. It’s not waterproof but it is water resistant and was made to be used in incelement weather conditions. So don’t be delicate…get it out there and beat it up!
- Compact Size
- With the amount of power you get from the Atomic Beam, I’d expect it to be 4x the size that it is. But they’ve figured out how to pack it all into a very small housing. It can fit in a jean pocket or small purse easily.
- Rechargeable Battery
- Though you have to purchase it separately, I really appreciate that there is the option for a rechargeable battery. These days there are so many rechargeable products out there, I hate it when something that requires sustained use calls for standard batteries. The whole time I’m using it I feel like I’m being irresponsible. With a rechargeable battery you can use it to your hearts content, as it was intended!
Let’s Get Practical
All of the above describes the product itself, what it does, and how it differentiates itself from others like it.
But let’s talk about what it all comes back to. What does using this product actually look like in day-to-day use? Awesome…it has a bunch of cool features…but in practice, are they actually helpful?
I can answer that question only with my experience. With how I put this product to use in my own life to make it easier, more efficient, more consistent, more fun, whatever the case may be. Your experience will, of course, be different. But this should give you a place to start. You can at least read on with the knowledge that no products make it on this site without being a thoroughly tested, tried-and-true part of some area of my life!

One of the most important features of a flashlight, as it pertains to its practical use, is battery life. You aren’t going to believe me when I say this…but guys, I have literally never used the Atomic Beam until it has died. And I’ve taken it on probably 10 or more multi-day camping trips! I’m not actually trying to say that extended battery life is a feature that sets the Atomic Beam apart, in particular. But the fact that I’ve never had it die on me is pretty remarkable. And, caveat, I’m only speaking about using it with the rechargeable battery. I have no reason to believe that the length of use would be significantly less with standard batteries. But just note that my experience is only with the rechargeable battery.
Another note as it pertains to practical use is actually a negative. There are 3 “modes”. Constant beam, strobe, and an S.O.S. pattern. It’s frustratingly easy to accidentally click it into the wrong mode. You’re supposed to have to hold the power button down to switch modes. But even with a very quick trigger finger it feels like I often switch into a different mode unintentionally. It’s not a hugely inconvenient problem, as all I do is tap it back into the mode I want. But I wish it would be more difficult to change modes so it didn’t happen accidentally.
An awesome little trick that I use really often is to point the Atomic Beam at it’s widest setting at the ceiling of a dark room. When I say that it lights up the entire room, I’m not kidding! It’s seriously like you turned on every light haha. Whether it’s a power outage at home, or you want to light up your tent on a camping trip, this method will give you MORE than enough light to see what your doing.
Lastly, I rarely recommend people to not purchase products on Amazon. It’s most always the best route. But in this unique case I would recommend purchasing it from the manufacturers website, as they have package deals that include the flashlight and the rechargeable battery that I strongly recommend.*
*I’m actually not entirely sure if this is still the case. It was when I bought mine. But do some research of your own to see if that’s still the best approach.
Summary
- Pros
- The Atomic Beam’s brightness, durability, and versatility are unrivaled by any other flashlight I’ve ever used. It’s one of my favorite, most reliable tools I use on a regular basis. But perhaps the most stand-out feature, if I’m boiling it down to a single one, is the fact that the beam is just as bright on it’s outer edge as it is at its center. Allowing you to see the entire area that it is lighting up with remarkable consistency.
- Cons
- It’s frustratingly easy to accidentally bump it into “strobe” or “S.O.S” mode. It’s not incredibly hard to switch it back, but it happens to me often enough that it’s annoying.
- Even though the rechargeable battery is something I called out as one of my favorite features, it is a “con” in my opinion that you need to purchase it separately. I wish the standard package came with the rechargeable battery included.
